No Myth About Today’s Cassette Classic

The family of Penn's becomes complete in 1989.

After "Fast Times at Ridgemont High", everyone new who Sean Penn was.

That seemed to open the door for the rest of his family. Little brother Chris started doing some acting. "Flashdance", remember. The guy who couldn't dance. That was Chris. He was also big in the Quinton Tarantino universe.

In 1989 we were introduced to the big brother. Michael Penn hit the charts in 1989 with his hit "No Myth". Admittedly it was a catchy tune. It had the line..

"What if I was Romeo in black jeans. What if I were Heathcliff it's no myth".

For some reason, if you sang that line it made you seem smart. Oh, you know about Romeo and Heathcliff.

Not really no, I know about Michael Penn.

Today he is a big producer and composer. If you watch "Girls" on HBO, or "Masters of Sex" on Showtime, you're listening to Michael Penn. But this is the song that we all associate him with.
