Bam! The power of a song to rip you out of the present and drop you completely into another time and place is consistently amazing. Such was the case of today's tune.  The needle drops on this and there I am, working at the worst nightclub in Killeen. I actually almost worked there two years previously, but I had told myself I could do better. Hahaha. Fate is a $#@!. Meanwhile, on the other side of the country, my wife was in the eighth grade, and essaying this song in a lip sync battle. Two memories of very different places, joined together by a silly bit of Miami Freestyle.

The "freestyle" beat I speak of exploded out of the Miami area in the mid-eighties with it's very distinctive rhythm turning up in pop songs by The Information Society, Selena, Noel and many more. Our song today got all the way up to number five in 1987, two years after another version with a different lead singer had peaked on the dance charts. The group was the creation of Lewis Martineé, a Miami disc jockey and producer. This version of the band had hits up until the early nineties, when a long cycle of break up, reunite, repeat, began, continuing to this day.

Let us now hairspray our hair to the sky, slap on tight mini dress of some sort and freestyle our way through your-
