Oh, yeah. I gotta fever. And the only prescription is a big chorused lighter-waver from a band whose brief time in the spotlight was killed by the rise of grunge and the nineties. You know, the death of fun. READ ON!

See, when the 90's rolled around, all these hair bands, who were selling records like happy fun candy, were shown the door, relegated to the backrooms of history, like some shameful secret record buyers and companies would rather pretend didn't happen. Here's the thing, however, this stuff was big stupid fun. And the stuff that washed them away, dour brwwwwarrrr huuhhhhh singing, flanning wearing grunge, was NOT fun. At all. And the stupidest joy came when the hairbands broke out the big power ballads. Oh yeah. Heaven, indeed, wasn't too far away. You want a big hit, a high charting single all the ladies will ring the radio station's request lines to hear? Slow the tempo and sing about love, baby!

Did you hear that? Every lady between the ages of 35 and 50 just sighed. You loved this stuff, ladies. Yes, you did. You're the one responsible for this song, in the summer of 1989, going all the way to number two on the Billboard Hot Hundred, kept out of the top spot by a song from...Mili Vanilli. You had more love for the song then the band's record company, who were completely surprised by the song's sudden pants on fire success, ordering up a new version with a bigger radio sound to further fan the song's success. Oh, for those who scoff, the band itself sold upwards of ten million albums in their career before lead singer dude passed away in the 2011. So there.

Good enough to declare this your K-101.7 SONG OF THE DAY!
