Dave Spins: LED ZEPPILIN!
Real cool album cover art week continues. We're getting the Led out today, yes sir.
Yeah, speaking of Goodtimes van worthy art, Led Zeppelin were neck and neck with the Pink Floyd in terms of staggeringly amazing album cover art. Something puzzling enough to keep you staring at it as the album grabbed ahold of your soul and transported you off your bed into...just whatever the hell was going on inside the cover art. And this particular album, Houses Of The Holy, wasn't just satisfied with the naked kids climbing up the weird, hill of stone tire kinda things. No. You put that record on, you opened up the gatefold album, some 30 inches wide, and were faced with this:
BONGGGG!
Wow. What's, uh, going on there? Somebody? Anybody? Naked guy? Holding up...a lady? One of the kids from the cover? What is he holding her up to? What's with the light and the overgrown castle-looking hillside thing? EH?
So, all hail Led Zeppelin, responsible for the seventies most mystic and head scratching cover art...and the band behind today's-
