Student Brings Gun to School, is Caught (thank goodness)

Johnny Cash said it all in his late 1950s hit: "don't take your guns to town son, leave your guns at home."

A student at Patterson Junior High School in KIlleen did not take that advice.  Friday morning, said student was taken into custody and the school says they'll handle the situation. And that's about all they said to the media, which is to be expected given the age range of the student involved. They didn't even say the gender of the student, lest we on the outside start speculating.

Now of course the authorities are involved in the questions begin in earnest. Who's gun is it? How did the minor obtain the gun? Did the youngster freely obtain the gun or was it taken without knowledge? Had the gun been properly secured?  And so on and so forth.

These days, a lot of folks are concerned about the children safety inside the schools. Rightfully so. Thankfully, each school has a resource officer ready to deal with such a situation as best they can.

Parents, check with your nearby firearms dealer for recommendations on securing your weapon. And local safe and lock company can provide a gun safe for you to stow your weapons.  And please don't think I'm being condescending, I know you know this already.
