PotatoStock 2014 is happening this weekend. The idea grew from the need to make Potato Salad.

You may remember Zack 'Danger' Brown who started a Kickstarter campaign to raise $10 for his first attempt at making potato salad.  The world embraced his quest to accomplish this one thing (well some people in the world embraced the idea, others though it was stupid).

Anyway enough people believed in Zack to send him over $55,000! He listed them all Wednesday night. LIVE!  It took almost 4 hours!  When you hear your name called stand up and take a bow, then play it back for your friends. The list is in alphabetical order so feel free to fast forward.

Because of all the donations,  Zack decided to take his potato salad making dream to a higher level and he organized Potatostock 2014 complete with bands, potato sack races and of course potato salad. The Idaho Potato Commission and corporate sponsors have donated supplies for Zack and volunteers to whip up 300 pounds of potato salad.

I won't be able to go since I live in Texas, (I am one of those people who don't really care),  but those who go will not only have some potato smashing fun they will be helping out a good cause.

Zack is donating money to start an endowment that will help Columbus charities fight hunger and homelessness.

See,  stupid ideas can lead to something good!
