Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg aka The Notorius RBG

Who knew Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg was such a hit on tumblr?  They call her the Notorious RBG!

This woman has fans all over the internet.  You can even buy RBG T-shirts.

For those of you who are not as hip as me the nickname refers to the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.

Shana Knizhnik, a law student at New York University, started the Tumblr page last year, but saw the site’s popularity skyrocket following Ginsburg’s dissent in the Hobby Lobby ruling this summer.

Knizhnik told ABC News, “My intention with the Tumblr was always to honor her incredible work as a lawyer, feminist and jurist, and it is so gratifying to know that she appreciates that, as well as the humor behind the title.”

Ginsburg is quite aware that she has an online fandom, and is well aware that there’s a Tumblr called “Notorious R.B.G.” (her law clerks had to explain the reference to her, though). She finds it amusing, and yes, she’s seen the rap video. She’s exactly as quietly charmed at the whole phenomenon as you’d want her to be — and says her children and grandchildren get a kick out of it, too.

I am not even going to get into all the controversy over what Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg stands for and how she voted on this or that.

I will leave you with the fact that she is an 81 year old cancer survivor who works out twice a week with a personal trainer. Her routine includes lifting weights and push-ups.

And she has a mean gansta pose!
