Julia Creates a Disaster For Homemade Bread Day
Happy Homemade Bread Day! Remember the bread machines that were all the rage a few years ago? Did you have one? I did. And the bread was so delicious.
Just pour the stuff in the bread maker and turn it on. Well that lasted about 6 months and then I put the bread maker up on the cabinet with the rest of the unused machines.
Well since it is homemade bread day I decided to pull the ole machine down. Dust off the dust and make some Hawaiian bread from the mix I had in the cabinet for years.
The box told me to follow the instructions that came with my machine. But I could not find the instructions for the machine. Even online it could not tell me how to make the recipe. I know you have to have the water a certain temp and you add the yeast at a certain time, but I could not remember the details.
Oh yes the yeast. It expired two years ago!
Uh oh, I had no other, so I just dumped the mix into the container, put it in the bread machine and hoped for the best.
2 and a half hours later, the best was horrible.
It did not even mix up and make a ball of dough.
I later discovered I did not jam the container down in the machine hard enough, so the little mixing arm never moved.
Oh well, I thought, I will just go to the store and buy some new mix and this time make the best darn tasting bread ever.
I could not find the mix anywhere! I guess that means the Bread Machine part of our lives is over!
Curse you Dr. Atkins!
