Whenever a major tragedy occurs, thoughts always stray to whether saying or doing something is appropriate. It's only natural, after all, because we want to be considerate about the plight of others. When a wound is fresh, it's at its most sensitive, which means t's easy to exacerbate the pain unintentionally.

Before writing this post, I thought the same thing. In the end, the lovely Cecily Strong set the right tone last night. SNL didn't even bother to do it's usual opening sketch.

“Paris is the city of lights. And here in New York City, we know that light will never go out. Our love and support is with everyone there tonight. We stand with you.”

Her French was perfect. Seriously. I am French and I can't speak like that.
