1987. He came. He saw. He got funky.  He sold ten million albums.

Then...not so much. Some follow up albums with unfortunate titles.

Then he went kinda loopy and changed his name to something like Sanada Maitreya..or Shirley Johnson...something like that. Which is sad, because his stuff remained really really good, mixing his love of James Brown, and The Beatles and deep deep funk into a somewhat intoxicating stew that was never less than great.
