Dave In The Cave here, laying down your song of the day with a theme for the week, Songs Of The Summer.The concept selfishly being tunes that bring to my basic operating system brain the sounds, the sights, the FEELING of summer, elsewheres in my life span.

Like this here, hitting the little ratty Okinawa army base around the summer of '77, playing to packed houses. You gotta understand movies, to g.i.'s and their families, were like beacons and messages from back home. Here's 90 minutes running in front of you of what's happening across the miles back in the States.. A connection with home resumed, however brief, was of incredible importance.

And apparently, what was happening back in the states was undeniably funky, backed by one of the best soundtracks around.
