Will Smith’s new move Focus came in first at the box office this weekend, making $19.1 million. That’s not very much for a Will Smith movie.  It's even less than After Earth which opened with 27 million and we know how that turned out.

Sure After Earth ended up making $243 million but most of that was overseas.  Focus probably will not make near that much.

Next we have two movies with staying power, well maybe three.

Number two was Kingsman: The Secret Service with $11.7 million.  So far the movie has made $85.6 million in the US and Canada.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, added $11.2 million to take number 3. The domestic total so far is $140.3 million.

Fifty Shades of Grey, fell to number four bringing in  $10.9 million in its third weekend. The romantic drama has now made $147.7 million domestically.

Rounding out the top five is this weekend’s new horror film The Lazarus Effect which made $10.6 million during its first three days.

Kevin Costner’s McFarland, USA, is number 6 making $7.7 million this weekend.

Then comes American Sniper, also with  $7.7 million, taking its domestic total to $331.1 million.

The teen comedy The DUFF, came in at number 8 collecting $7.1 million in its second weekend.

The Oscar-winning Still Alice broke the top ten, rising to the ninth spot this weekend, thanks to Julianne Moore’s Oscar win and expansion to another 1,000 theaters. The drama grossed $2.6 million this weekend.

Rounding out the top 10 is Hot Tub Time Machine 2. The comedy sequel only managed $2.4 million in its second weekend and has made a weak $10.2 million in two weeks of release.

Official weekend box office results will be released Monday, March 2.
