I follow the Irish actor Pierce Brosnan on Facebook - I have been a James Bond fan of the highest order since I was in grade school so naturally I follow all of the 007s - and for a couple of weeks now I've noticed him posting as if he was in Central Texas. Turns out he is indeed in Texas.

Well, hello Jimbo!

Yes, he's doing a western series for AMC. It's based on Texas author Philipp Meyer’s 2013 novel The Son.

I always thought Pierce was a good Bond who was saddled with bad scripts. He says in the documentary Everything or Nothing that after Goldeneye, it seemed like the other movies he made were a blur to him. They're a blur to the rest of us. James Bond's adventures should be distinctive each time around; you'd never confuse Dr. No with Auric Goldfinger. That's not to say this is Brosnan's fault: you sign a contract, you play the role for multiple films.

Now that he's involved in a period western miniseries, Brosnan will see how Texans do adventure.
