White House Fence Jumper had Axes and a Machete in His Car

Federal prosecutors now say the Copperas Cove man who jumped a fence and ran into the White House Friday night had 800 rounds of ammunition, two hatchets and a machete in his car that was parked blocks away.

42 year old Omar Jose Gonzalez was arraigned in federal court Monday on one charge of unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds while carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon.  Secret service says Gonzalez had a knife in his pocket when he was arrested inside the White House.  Gonzalez is the first fence jumper to make it inside

Gonzalez’s friends and relatives believe he is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after serving six years in Iraq.

The Army said he served from 1997 until his discharge in 2003, and again from 2005 to December 2012, when he retired due to disability.  He has been stationed at Fort Hood  and Joint Base Lewis-McChord, in Washington state.
