Don't take it to the gutter people. I'm talking Naked Eyes.

I was hooked on the next Cassette Classic from the opening church bells. It’s “Always Something There to Remind Me”.

I worked with a guy who told me it was a re-make, turns out “crazy old stoner guy” was right. It was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David in 1963. It was first recorded by Dionne, is my mouth really that big, Warrick as a demo that year, and again later in 1967. It made it to the charts for the first time when Lou Johnson recorded it in 1964.

Sandi Shaw took it to number on over in Britain that same year as well.

Plus R.B. Greaves did a version in 1970, and to be honest, I think I heard this version as little kid.

Then, 20 years after it was written, the group Naked Eyes ran it through the new keyboard/synthesizers of the day and made it a top ten hit in 1983. Still a favorite on my cassette to this day. Naked Eyes’ version of “Always Something There To Remind Me”.
