Here's an update on the single biggest music event ever.  For those just walking in, yesterday the band U2, in conjunction with some software upstart named Apple or something, digitally released their brand new album, "Songs Of Innocence", automatically making it the biggest music release ever at an estimated 500 million available downloads.

So that happened.

Today, the band's lead singer and de facto mouth piece, Paul "Bono" Hewson, practiced his typing skills on the band's website, U2.com.

"Remember us?" Bono wrote. "Part of the DNA of this band has always been the desire to get our music to as many people as possible. In the next 24 hours, over a half a billion people are going to have Songs of Innocence… should they choose to check it out."

Then Bono went into further detail as to the birth of the record and the reason for the deal with Apple, then rounding into home with, "We’re collaborating with Apple on some cool stuff over the next couple of years, innovations that will transform the way music is listened to and viewed. We’ll keep you posted. If you like Songs of Innocence,  stay with us for Songs of Experience. It should be ready soon enough…"

The early reviews for the record have been overwhelmingly on the positive side. For those who desire to own it physically, "Songs Of Innocence" will hit real live record stores in October.
