The Slow Mo Guys Shatter a CD That No One Cares About in Super Slow Motion
Everyone loves destroying things. Look what we do to our bodies, or the Earth. But to watch it happen in slow motion is the ultimate level of fun.
I remember when CD's were first becoming popular. I was still in college. The local radio stations all were having a battle to see who could get the biggest CD collection.
"This is Q-98 with over 500 cd's of rock!"
And we could tell they were playing the rock off of the cd's because after about a week, they started skipping.
I got into the business about 6 months later, and we were still promoting the fact that we had massive amounts of cd's but we then would record the song onto a cart (which was a high quality 8 track tape) so the cd wouldn't get worn out.
That was 27 years ago, and cd's are on the same track as the 8 track, cassette, and Latin thanks to digital downloads. In fact, you see all the cd's in the rack above? They're empty. My stash of music was stolen a few years back. I've replaced it all, plus a lot more, and it's all on this hard drive.
So now all I have to worry about is the Evil Mr Hands and Sluggo. And of course a "crash", but even if I loose it all again, I know it's all floating around on a cloud somewhere. I'll just make rain music.
So it's no big surprise that the Slow Mo guys feel it's safe to destroy their cd's. If I could I would destroy every cd in this fashion, because it's so cool.
