The Saga of Ken, Barbie’s Boy Toy

Today is Ken Day.  We are talking Barbie’s boyfriend Ken, introduced to the world two years after Barbie, in 1961.

His full name is Ken Carson.  The woman who created him said she made Ken look like her husband.  Maybe that is why the first Ken doll had real felt hair, but unfortunately it fell out when you got it wet so they replaced it with plastic. He eventually evolved into Superstar Ken with a dimpled smile, and a more muscular physique, and underwear permanently molded to his body. And now he talks!

You know Ken has had about 40 different jobs since 1961. Maybe that is why he and Barbie broke up in 2004.  You didn't know?  It's true.  The breakup lasted til 2011, when, thanks to Facebook the two hooked up again.

But what about the "real" Barbie and Ken?

She is really Valeria Lukyanova, a Ukrainian Model who hopes to someday exist on a diet of light and air to maintain her figure. She claims she has only had breast implants.

While Ken is really Justin Jedlica, a 33-year-old from New York City, who has spent about $100,000 on  90 different plastic surgeries over the past 10 years, to become what he thinks is a  human Ken doll.  Surgeries include silicone implants in his buttocks, belly, biceps and triceps, among others.

This is what happened when the two Humans met.  They did not get along, Ken accused Barbie of being a LIAR and a FAKER. Imagine that!
