Agents with the Texas Rangers and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are now assisting in the search for a 22-year-old Sul Ross State University student who went missing over a week ago.

Verk reportedly left her home on the night of Tuesday, October 11 for a date with her on-again, off-again boyfriend. Police have not released that man's name, nor have they identified him or anyone else as a person of interest in the case.

Verk is described as a white woman with blonde hair and hazel eyes, standing at 5 feet tall and weighing 110 pounds. She was last seen in Alpine, which is about 27 miles east of Marfa.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Brewster County Sheriff's Department has asked area ranchers to inspect their property for disturbed earth, personal items on the ground, or other suspicious signs.

Police say they are also searching for two cars seen in the area of Verk's disappearance between 12 AM and 10 AM on Wednesday, October 12: a gray 2006 Jeep Liberty and a 2004 Mazda Miata convertible with a beige top.

Anyone who sees Verk or the vehicles or knows anything about her disappearance is urged to contact Alpine police at (432) 837-3486.

A $30,000 reward is being offered for her safe return.
