On November 5, 2009, 13 people lost their lives and several more were injured when a fanatical gunman opened fire inside Soldier Readiness Processing Center.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the creator and leader of the Islamic state who blew himself up over the weekend when cornered by U.S. Special forces, was idolized by Major Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist who opened fire on his fellow servicemen and women at Fort Hood in 2009.
At a Monday afternoon press conference, Col. Paul Reese, III Corps and Fort Hood chief of operations, and Chris Grey, U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command spokesman, talked about the investigation into the April 2 Fort Hood shooting. Col. Reese also outlined plans for a memorial ceremony on April 9. President Obama is scheduled to attend the ceremony.
In this afternoon's press conference at Fort Hood, Lt. General Mark Milley released the names and details of the three soldiers killed in Wednesday's shooting.
