More than a dozen units responded to what's being call a suspicious fire at a San Antonio apartment building yesterday, after calls came in about several children trapped inside. Crews arrived on the scene to find the fire spreading through the stairwells of the building leaving the children stuck on the second floor.

San Antonio officer Tim Bowen was among the first to arrive. Bowen told the children to jump from the window on the second floor and that he would catch each of them. Three children jumped, while a 4th was  afraid to exit the window. SAFD got the 4th child out of the apartment without injury. While all the children made it out of the building safely, one dog inside one of the apartment units was lost in the fire.

SAFD called Bowen a hero in a tweet following the rescue.
