In 1964, Roy Orbison started a three week run at number one with this song. The title was inspired by his wife Claudette interrupting a conversation to say that she was going out. When Roy asked her if she needed some cash, his co-writer Bill Dees interjected "A pretty woman never needs any money." And, thus, the inspiration for his biggest hit!
