The smelly circus calls it quits. Are we really surprised?

I have to be honest. The circus was never my favorite thing. It smelled. The animals all had watery eyes so it looked like they didn't want to be there. It smelled. Oh, and the clowns scared the crap out of other people (me).

USA Today reports that the biggest name in "Circus", Ringling Brothers, announced that they're shutting it down. It was just last year that they retired the elephants from the show due to public pressure. No one likes to see elephants doing "neat" tricks when you have to beat the elephant to make them learn the trick. After all, elephants are harmless. Oh wait...

Even though people hated to see elephants in such distress at the circus, they seemingly didn't care about anything else. Attendance was down significantly since they retired the animals.

The final shows of the Ringling Brothers Circus will be May 7 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I., and May 21 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, N.Y.
