The next Big Q's Cassette Classic is finger licking good.

Synthesizers. They can make music fun, or destroy it completely. It all depends on who’s listening. One of the early synth songs was “Popcorn”. I always thought it was from Hot Butter, but it turns out I was wrong. The original “Popcorn” was popped out in 1969 from Gershon Kinglsey.

Hot Butter exploded on the charts a few years later in 1972 with their version. And I do mean exploded. It went to number one in Australia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland. Plus, it was the number one song for the whole year in France and Switzerland.

All I know is I loved it, plus the parents hated it. I thought they were having a seizure every time it came on because they both would just start rolling their eyes. Time to turn up some Hot Butter and “Popcorn”.
