Police have reportedly identified the driver of a car that struck and killed a Killeen teenager in a hit-and-run case, but it is unclear if an arrest has or will be made.

KWTX-TV reported Monday that police had seized the vehicle of the person they believe to be responsible for the death of Killeen High School student Parker Leporin-Vazquez on Friday, August 19.

Police initially reported that the vehicle may be a dark-colored GMC Arcadia, and that it likely sustained damage to its front as a result of the collision. However, police have not released the make and model of the seized vehicle, nor have they publicly identified the driver. There's also been no indication that an arrest has been made.

Leporin-Vazquez, who was set to begin his junior year of high school this semester, was struck shortly before 5:30 AM on Aug. 19 while walking along the side of the road in the 600 block of East Central Texas Expressway. The driver sped away without stopping.

Leporin-Vazquez was rushed to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, where he later passed away as a result of his injuries. His companion was also injured.

Police are still investigating this hit-and-run, and anyone with information is asked to call the Harker Heights Police Department at (254) 943-5400.
