Two men were hospitalized Monday morning after a heated argument escalated into gunfire at a Harker Heights apartment complex.

KWTX reports that police responded to a 911 call at 42 Brittney Way around 5:15 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds to his upper body and another with wounds to his lower body. Both were taken to Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Neither man's condition has been released.

According to witnesses, the first shooting victim was arguing with another man who then threatened to shoot him. Moments later, shots were fired and the first victim was struck. The second victim was hit by a stray bullet while sitting in his apartment.

Police believe the suspect fled the scene in a late model, white Chrysler vehicle but have not released further details. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
