Voulez Vous eh..Vlouse you...VOULEZ Vous...eh...avec shalots un crepes suzettes? Yeah! It's that song. They re-did it in the early aughts, you might remember. Pink and Christina What's-er-Bucket tore the paint off the universe, burned the town down and left the world smoking with their rendition. Subtlety? Naw, just some modern singers dropping a turbo jet plane engine into a previously gritty, funky little number. Cos that's what they do. Could they top the original, which featured Patti Labelle, Nona Hendrix and Sara Dash? Are you kidding me with that? Pshhaw.

    EPIC

Spring of 1975, our song here hit the number one spot on the billboard chart, According to it's Wiki entry, the song's chorus, "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi (ce soir)?", appeared in the play A Streetcar Named Desire, uttered by the promiscuous Blanche DuBois. Lyrically...yes, the song is about a prostitute and the funny thing Patti Labelle claims she didn't know that fact. Nobody told her, she says. Mmmmph. That aside, Labelle smokes through the song, selling the come on with great skill and much less of the uneeded Panzer like vocal blitzkrieg of the remake. Different decades, different approaches. I'll take Labelle, anyday. If just for the massive amount of feathers involved.

So now, all that said, blah blah blah, please to enjoy today's-

-K-101.7 SONG OF THE DAY!

p.s: The remake of today's song was for the all singing all dancing movie Moulin Rouge. Speaking of movies, have a gander at my movie review show, Dave's On Film!
