I got hooked on reading pretty young. I stopped for awhile because of my job. But then I met a hot girl who liked Stephen King. She said I should read the book "The Stand". She said I could borrow her copy. I was going to leave something in her apartment to give me a reason to stop by again anyway, now she was giving me her book. I told here I don't do scary, but O.K.

I remember it was scary just looking at it, because it was so thick. She had it back within a week.

It was amazing. It was the first time I was unable to put something down. I'd read stories, but nothing like this. The character development was incredible. I could picture everything.

The movie is going to be worse than the book 99.9% of the time

Every character was so well defined. I wanted more & more. And I was so into the characters, I was pissed every time one of them had to die.

I started reading everything Stephen King I could get my hands on. It was very rare that I was disappointed in a story.

As my life got busy I still wanted to read, so I went and found less intense subject matter. Spy/Adventure was my answer. By this time I was in the Army. I got stationed over in Fulda Gap. I needed something to read, so I picked up a book called "The Eagle Has Flown". It was sequal to a book called "The Eagle Has Landed". I hadn't read the book, but I did see the movie.

I had it finished by the time I landed in Germany. I was then reading everything I could from Jack Higgins. Then the same girl that helped me discover Stephen King, then turned me on to James Patterson and a fantastic character, "Alex Cross".

Today, after breakfast, I read some pages from my new favorite character, "Jack Reacher". I read Lee Child's first "Jack Reacher" novel when all the contraversy was happening when Tom Cruise was cast. To be honest, it was stupid. Tom has to be half the size of the character in the book. But what people failed to realize, Tom is twice the size of when it comes to movies.

The movie is going to be worse than the book 99.9% of the time. That's because the book give you the chance to see the characters. The movies lets you see someone else's vision. As someone who has a very active imagination, it's tough to give that up to someone else.

This week, grab you favorite book and fall in love with it all over again.
