North Dakota Has Changed, But Then, it Always Has
I went back to the state I grew up in for the first time in 12 years this summer, and one of things I noticed was how much the state had changed. Like this big Turbine behind my Grandma's old one room school house. Turns out it's always been changing.
The state I'm talking about is North Dakota, which, since I left, has seen a boom in Wind Power, and Fracking Power. The State is flowing in money and now has the most millionaires per capita in the country. In return it's lost some of its small town charm. But it turns out North Dakota has always been about change.
Back in the day the area was ruled by Mr. T Rex. I know! I didn't think dinosaurs could handle cold weather, but it turns out that North Dakota was a lot like Florida is today. Moist & Muggy. The open plains were actually a lush swamp of bugs and death. Well, the bugs and death are still around, but the swamp is gone. There was also plenty of water around, and inside the water were things that would eat you.
Not a Perch.
These creatures made way to others as the planet shifted. Like the Mammoth.
Or Mr Turtle. I bet this guy would win a few races.
Then, like Ebola, the humans suddenly arrived, and found neat ways of hunting. Like this guy, who would dig a hole, climb in, cover it, with a dead animal on top, then wait for a bird to swoop in and grab the dead animal. As soon as it would, the guy would pop his hands out from the hole and grab the bird. I can only imagine that after doing this a few times that they started to make the bow & arrow.
Well the creatures changed, the climate changed, the hunting techniques changed, but, if you plan on going up there to find your fortune, be aware of the thing that changes the most often, and that would be the weather.
