My Ding A Ling Celebrates 38 Years

Hey Gang,

Good news, My Ding a Ling has an anniversary today.  Lets probe into this a little more shall we.

Gutter people might feel embarrassed now.  I'm talking about Chuck Berry's "My Ding a Ling".  Todays the day that it hit number 1 in 1975.  Amazingly it was his first.  I know right?

It's actually a cover song.  The song was actually written and recorded originally by Dave Bartholomew.  It's kind of a strange song to go all the way to the top of the charts.  It was Boston radio station WMEX disc jockey Jim Connors who was credited with discovering the song, and pushing it on the unsuspecting public.
