A family hopes good deeds will ease some of the pain of their first Christmas without their son.

According to KWTX News, the Hering family from McGregor still feels the loss of their 15-year old son Rhett, who passed away in an ATV accident three days after Christmas last year.

Rhett's mother, Lorna, has described him as a kind person that loved the outdoors, spread joy to others around him, and was fun to be around. When it was time to put up the Christmas decorations she didn't want his empty Christmas stocking to remind her of last year's loss.

She has an idea. She wants to encourage her friends and family to complete random acts of kindness for others, then write down what they did. Those letters of kind acts will then be stuffed in Rhett's stocking to be read Christmas morning.
