Lottery Sales Through The Roof…AGAIN!

Five BILLION dollars!

Actually, $5.068 billion  to be exact. That's what lottery officials announced in sales for fiscal 2016, which shatters the sales record it set only one year ago!

Even better news: Lottery officials say that means a total contribution of $1.392 billion to the state coffers, the single largest annual transfer of revenue to the state EVER!

“This is the first time in our history that we have generated more than $5 billion in sales and we want to thank Texas Lottery players and our more than 17,000 retailers for their outstanding support,” said Gary Grief, executive director of the Texas Lottery in a release.

Among the donations this year are $1.373 billion - with a B! -  to the Foundation School Fund and $14.7 million to the Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. Throughout its history, the Lottery has brought in more than $19 billion to Texas's schools and more than $66 million to Texas veterans.
