Kansas are preparing for their first new album in 16 years next month with the release of one of the LP's songs. You can listen to the track, "With This Heart," above.

The Prelude Implicit is due on Sept. 23, and it marks Kansas' first album since 2000's Somewhere to Elsewhere. During that time, the band was on the road quite a bit, and released a trio of live records in that period.

They also lost longtime singer Steve Walsh, who left in 2014, saying that “it’s time for me to go, and yes, it makes me sad to have to admit that.” The Prelude Impact will be the first Kansas LP to feature lead vocals by Ronnie Platt, the keyboardist who replaced Walsh not long after his departure.

The album also includes producer and songwriter Zak Rizvi's first official record with the band. His appearance returns Kansas to a two-guitar lineup for the first time since 1991, when Steve Morse left the group.

Last month, Kansas teased the upcoming album with a video that scanned through the record's track listing. “Whether it is the trademark prog epic like ‘The Voyage of Eight Eighteen,’ biting rocker such as ‘Rhythm in the Spirit’ or mindful ballad like ‘The Unsung Heroes,’ there is something on this album for every kind of Kansas fan,” guitarist Richard Williams said.

A week after The Prelude Implicit comes out, the band will hit the road for another round of tour dates. You can see their itinerary below.
