I may have just eaten one more doughnut than I should have and am writing this under the influence of said pastry-centered sugar delivery system. Since the Oscars are in the air, for the next five days, let's play FIVE RANDOM MOVIES!

Okay, what we are going to do is pull five movies with my eyes closed off this shelf and talk about them. Simple, right? Let's go. Number one is...

Man, the Wachowski Brothers, like Tarantino, are experts are pulling in bits and pieces from other movies and smoothly gluing them together into eye candy. At things like characterization, plot dynamics, logic, and writing dialogue that isn't t.v. movie trite or so loaded with loopy de loo philosophizing among pages of characters lobbing exposition at each other, they fail. And a lot of the time they are so busy scaling up pretty pretty worlds that the actors charged with standing in front of the green screen are left to their own devices, mostly to their own downfall. Ask Eddie Redmayne from their last film, so great in The Theory Of Everything, so SO bad in the Wachowski's Jupiter Ascending. So, why do I own this? I liked the first one, was kinda eh on the second one and found this, the third Matrix movie in the bargain bin for five bucks years later. So, despite it's rep, I bought it and gave it a fair chance. It took me a week to get through it. Oh lord, it was punishing. Listen, these guys can tell you why this blows way better than I can:

Wow, how not fun does that look? I think the creators should have let the first film stand on it's own. Sometimes creative inspiration pulls things out of the ether that are really great but will not stand the strain of two more movies explaining all of it in unending and obtuse detail. And then you lard that up with new stuff that you DON'T explain? BELRG. Also, did Morpheus spend his time between movies at Golden Corral? Cos, yikes.
