Let us now praise our Alphabet! Ah, we do take it for granted, don't we? That glorious line up of twenty-six letters that form the basis of our daily interpersonal communications and most Lionel Richie songs.

The first "true alphabet" in this sense is believed to be the Greek alphabet, which is a modified form of the Phoenician alphabet. So we can thank this guy:

for the nuts and bolts of our daily interaction and communication. Did you know the last letter added to our alphabet was the letter J? Also, Nic Cage added another letter in 1985 at the end of this recitation of our alphabet.
