Earlier Story

Because of a water main break, Killeen, Copperas Cove, Fort Hood and Harker Heights residents must now curtail any use of water that is not necessary for health and safety.
Prohibited uses include irrigating lawns and foundations, washing cars, charity car washes, ornamental fountains, filling swimming pools, etc.

There was a water main break to a Bell County WCID #1 transmission line that supplies water to Killeen, Fort HoodCopperas Cove, and Harker Heights. Bell County WCID #1 is repairing the main at this time.

Because of the water main break the city of Copperas Cove is in Stage Five of Water Conservation.  A Cove press release states: Consumption of water by all customers SHALL be limited to essential use only until the water supply interruption is corrected, which at this point we believe may be midday Sunday. This includes prohibition of lawn irrigation, washing of vehicles, filling of pools, non‐essential indoor and outdoor use, etc.
