K1017 Artists Among Nominees For Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction
Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, Hall and Oates and The Zombies are among the artists who've been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
Other nominees being considered include Peter Gabriel, Chic, Yes, Kiss, Link Wray and The Paul Butterfield Blues Band. The highly influential 90s rock group ‘Nirvana’ has also been nominated – a first for the band.
Other nominees include Deep Purple, The Meters, The Replacements and hip-hop artists N.W.A and LL Cool J.
The nominees were announced Tuesday. Artists become eligible for induction to the Cleveland, Ohio museum 25 years after the release of their first album based on their influence and significance in the development and perpetuation of rock and roll, according to the museum’s website.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame website is conducting an online fan poll in which visitors can vote for up to 5 of their favorite nominees. Those votes will be tallied along with 600 official ballots in the induction process. Inductees will be announced in December and a ceremony will take place in New York in April of next year.
