Some the biggest memories that I've repressed in my life had to do with wearing a suit as a child. Which begs the question; How young is too young to be wearing a suit?

I've never cared for fashion. If I had a kid, they'd be dressed in a canvas bag until the first day of school. Yes, yes, I know, "Thank God he doesn't have kids". Indeed. The last thing this world needs are children with a strong sense of self. I mean kids that know the value of a dollar, have a high sense of self confidence, and know that's clothes don't make the man, have no place in this world.

I look at "fancy" clothes as the same as vegetables. If you force them on kids, they'll hate them. If you let the kids chose what they like, then you might get a kid that enjoys wearing fancy clothes. I was force to wear a suit, every single time I wore a suit. This blurry picture is me and my little brother wearing suits for a relatives wedding.  A few things to notice...film sucked in the 70's, and my brothers bow tie is bigger than his head.

The only other time I had to wear a suit, that I can remember, because there's no photographic proof, was for High School Graduation. Of course I had to wear it for class pictures. The next time I wore it wasn't for graduation, it was for my Grandfathers funeral. So much for that suit. Maybe that's why I hate them so much. My memories are "being uncomfortable", and funerals.

This might be the reason I was so disturbed the other day at the big box store. This is what I saw when I was walking down the isle.

Then a few feet behind this horrific display, they got even smaller!

Times are hard people. It's not like it was back when I was forced into pink and purple suits. One parent could work, while the other stayed home. These days you need both parents working full-time jobs if you want to have any chance at staying off the bread lines, and now they want you to dress kids in suits and ties that they'll wear once before they grow out of them.

Do yourself a favor and add up you clothes budget for kids. Now, look up how much canvas bags cost. To have a shot a college, would your kid mind putting up with some teasing, which they'll get anyway because kids are evil. They just might surprise you. But then, social services will want take them away. And when they show up to do it, they'll be wearing suits. And that makes my point that's suits are evil.
