Happy Birthday today to B.B King, the most famous blues singer/guitarist in the world today!  He is 88 years old.

Riley B. King was born on 9/16/25 in Itta Bena, Mississippi.  He hosted a radio show in Memphis, 1949-50, where he was dubbed "The Beale Street Blues Boy," later shortened to "Blues Boy," then simply "B.B."  His first recording  was released on 1949.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.  He also won the Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in the same year.

His biggest hit was "The Thrill is Gone," released in 1969. Here is a live version from 1971, introduced by a very young-looking Kenny Rogers...

B.B. King was a major influence on Eric Clapton.

See you tomorrow on the morning show!
