TxDOT officials closed north and southbound inside lanes of Interstate 35 south of Salado after a Monday morning fuel spill.

The spill occurred on the highway just south of Salado around 7:30 AM when a southbound 18-wheeler crashed into a median barrier and entered the northbound lane. No injuries were reported, but traffic was backed up for miles, with delays expected to continue for several hours as crews cleaned chemicals spilled on the road.

TxDOT recommended seeking alternative routes, including FM 2268 nourthbound and FM 436 southbound.
