A 23-year-old Fort Hood soldier was killed Saturday after a car driven by a teenage girl failed to yield the right of way to his motorcycle, causing a crash.

The collision occurred near Killeen High School around 8:30 am when the 17-year-old driver of a Chrysler PT Cruiser traveling southbound on 38th St. attempted to turn left into a student parking lot. The driver of the northbound Harley Davidson laid the motorcycle down before striking the side of the other vehicle, which failed to yield according to a preliminary investigation.

The rider was transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 9:11 pm. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

The driver and passenger of the PT Cruiser were unharmed.
