Former SNL Actress Jan Hooks Dead At 57

Sad news to report today, especially for us fans of comedy.  Jan Hooks, best known as one of the Sweeny Sisters on Saturday Night Live, has passed away at the age of 57, after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.

After SNL, she was nominated for an Emmy for her work on the sitcom Third Rock From The Sun, as trailer park temptress Vicki Dubeck.

The first time I remember seeing Jan Hooks was in the very early days of Ted Turner's TBS, when it was WTBS, The Superstation, and Ms. Hooks starred in one of their attempts at programming that wasn't old reruns of Gilligan's Island and Atlanta basketball.

For people of my age, Jan Hooks will always be near and dear to our hearts for her role in Pee Wee's Big Adventure. Indeed, there is no basement in the Alamo. Thanx, Jan, and rest in peace.
