Friends, every keystroke comes with some difficulty. I am here in Texas, safe and sound while my friends, neighbors and my family in Louisiana are facing high water. Yes, I am from Baton Rouge and I'm utterly powerless to help my family through this time.

Worst of all, water may be rising into my own home as we speak. There's no way for anyone to check on my place because the interstates are closed and the city streets which are open (and there are few) are jammed with overflow traffic. There are areas which have never flooded before which are taking on water.

My parents' house has never flooded before and yet water is now up to the back porch and garage doors in the front. This is a picture my mom sent me of the street corner by their house:

Not far away, in the neighborhood where I grew up, this amazing rescue took place:

My brother lives in neighboring Livingston Parish, which has more water in more places than it's ever seen.

If you're reading this, I ask for your prayers for my family and friends in Louisiana. You know what to do, my brain is too scrambled right now to ask for anything more. I'm praying as hard as I can myself. If you can steal a moment and say a few words on behalf of my loved ones, I will be grateful.

Thank you and God Bless,
