Celebrate Killeen April 24-26

The public is invited to enjoy free family fun at the Celebrate Killeen Festival, April 24-26, Thursday through Saturday.

The official kickoff party is Thursday night from 5 to 9 p.m. in historic Downtown Killeen on Avenue D between 4th Street and 8th Street. Activities will include refreshments, craft vendors, art displays, carriage rides, police and fire displays, kids’ train rides, face painting and a mobile art studio. Live music will be provided by The GTO’s and Mark Abernathy. Alcohol will be available for purchase.

The celebration continues Friday at the Killeen Rodeo Grounds Friday with a free concert featuring ZZ Top cover band, Eliminator.

A full day of fun is scheduled Saturday at the Killeen Community Center starting at 8 a.m. with the Celebrate Hornsby 5K run benefitting a scholarship in memory of fallen Killeen police officer Bobby Hornsby.

Festival activities will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and include entertainment, food, inflatables, a petting zoo, hayrides and much more. An outdoor movie showing of Monsters University starting at 8 p.m. at the Amphitheater concludes the festival.

Many other events including a carnival and low cost pet shot clinic are planned as part of the Celebrate Killeen Festival. A full schedule is online.
