Ya'll know I love to do the Friday Dance. My Facebook friends are always sending me videos of people dancing.  Today I saw something I have never seen before, a dancing with your doggie competition.

This video features Sandra and Lizzie, well know and frequent winners of said competitions.

Dog dancing is a pretty popular competition, in Germany.  I had never heard of it until today.  They have been doing it there since 2009. (Makes you wonder who comes up with this stuff).   But there is now a group called DogDance International.  The organization calls dog dancing a "fast-growing dog sport".

Dog and partner don't have to do any set movements or anything. they just freestyle it. and the best one wins.

In this case Sandra Roth is a jazz and ballet dancer. Lizzie was not her first dog of choice for dancing, she was so young.  But the older dog couldn't run and jump so well, so Lizzie got the job.  Sandra says she started teaching Lizzie when she was a puppy.  It took a while but Lizzie finally got it.

The two won the individual Freestyle at the 2014 World Championships. The competiton has one other category, Heel to Music.  I did not like that one so much..the dog just stands real close to the human.

Here is the  2014's Helsinki Competition winner, Team Anja and Queeny.

See, Heel to Music, just doesn't have that same "Dancing with the Stars" attitude.
