There's a reason I don't get too mad at the Oliver Stone bio pic of the Doors for being 88 percent bull hooey, and that's because Jim "Boom Boom" Morrison believed in printing the myth, anyway. He, and everybody around him, was already inflating his story out of proportion, anyway. So who cares if The Doors movie was a cartload of old horse apples. It was good to look at and Val Kilmer did a fine job of twisting his inate smug douchness in to a fine portrayal of the band's lead singer, uh, also a douchey jackass, oddly enough.

However, the music of the band continues on, inspiring legions of teenage boys to nod their head in appreciation as they suddenly feel understood. Then they grow up and realize some of these lyrics are kind of, I dunno, Freshman Year English stupid. Then they grow even older, rediscover the band again, and realize, bad poetry aside, some of these songs still %$#@! rock, dude.

Like today's K-101.7 SONG OF THE DAY!
