As Bogie said, we'll always have Paris.

I wanted to pick a few songs to highlight in a show of support with Paris. Trouble is, they fall outside the realm of pop, rock and soul of the 70s and 80s.

Fortunately, they're all standards from the great American Songbook. You know them because your grandparents knew them too.

Frank Sinatra "I Love Paris"

From the musical 'Can-Can,' although it was cut from the final film. Sinatra issued it as a single instead.

Nat 'King' Cole & George Shearing - "Azure Tè"

A melancholy love song. Wistful and oh so smooth.

Count Basie & His Orchestra - "April in Paris"

Yeah, I know it's not April. But so what. Come April, the flowers will be in bloom and we'll all love again. That's the magic of Paris.

This was one of the Count's biggest hits, making the top 40 in 1957.

BONUS:

Sammy Davis, Jr. "April in Paris"

From The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. There are a million versions besides Basie: Sinatra, Ella, etc. But Sammy pays tribute to Count after his passing.
