Oh No!  Is Good Looking Rob Lowe lying in those Direct TV Ads? The Better Business Bureau thinks so!

After a complaint from rival Comcast, (our Time Warner Cable has merged with Comcast by the way), the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus sided with Comcast and recommended that DirecTV stop running the Robe Lowe ad campaign,

The ads feature Lowe playing various awkward versions of himself, including a Rob Lowe with scrawny arms, "painfully awkward" Rob Lowe, "super creepy" Rob Lowe, "far less attractive" Rob Lowe and "meathead" Rob Lowe.

Of course the good looking, virile Rob Lowe has DirecTV. He claims DirecTV service gets 99% signal reliability, up to 1080p HD programming, has better picture and sound quality than cable, more sports programming than its rivals and shorter customer service wait times than its cable competitors. It also said DirecTV was rated No. 1 in customer satisfaction.

The only claims the BBB says are true, are the ones about 99% signal reliability and "up to 1080p" picture.

On Twitter Rob Lowe defended the ads.

DirecTV is appealing the BBB accusation that the ads are deceptive. Meanwhile the company says the Robe Lowe ad campaign ended on schedule and they are on to something new, Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model Hannah Davis, and her horse.
