When discussing Charlie Strong's status as head coach of the Longhorns, ESPN'S Kirk Herbstreit knew he was in college station and played it for all it was worth.

I'm sure the Aggie faithful standing behind these guys had their week made from that comment.  You can tell as much from the audio.  Still, Kirk acts as if UT is the only University with politics intermingled in athletics. The truth is, and everyone knows this, anything involving donors and boosters  is going to get political. Bluntly, these people think they underwrite all of these athletic activities. They also have a healthy opinion of themselves.  Just last week, Tim Brando told a radio call in show that people who have an extra decimal point in their annual income seem to think that's a license to know what all about football. That's why the NFL doesn't have these issues; the only personality conflicts are between the team owners and those they pay, just like any other job.

You could also say that Mack Brown played a more conservative type of ball game then what thrills fans these days.  Be that as it may, it certainly hasn't worked out as well in Austin under Charlie Strong. I don't know if I go so far as to call the whole town a cesspool.  That's kind of a total Yankee no class move.
