US 105 recently spoke with Sabrina Young, the Co-Coordinator for C.E.R.T. in Central Texas, about a supply drive for the flood victims in Baton Rouge, Louisianan.

C.E.R.T. stands for Community Emergency Response Team, and that is certainly what is needed in the Baton Rouge area after disastrous flooding has disrupted thousands of lives. Beyond the flood damage is the story of Fire Fighters and First Responders from all over the Nation gathering supplies and even providing their own transportation to take desperately needed supplies to our neighbors in Louisiana.

Supplies being collected by C.E.R.T throughout central Texas include:

  • Non-Perishable food items
  • Pet Food
  • Gloves
  • Batteries
  • Personal Hygiene items
  • Bottled Water
  • Flashlights
  • Baby Food/Diapers
  • Trash Bags
  • Ground Coffee

You can also make a monetary donation by making a check payable to CERT, and dropping it off at the Temple Fire Department Central Station. Harper Talasek funeral home in Temple and Killeen will also act as a drop off location for C.E.R.T. donations for Baton Rouge through September 10th (8a-5p).

Sabrina Young can be reached at 254-702-3738 for questions about donations or drop off times. If you cant make it to the drop off locations mentioned, call Sabrina and she will arrange for a C.E.R.T. driver to come to you to pick up your donations.

A big Central Texas "Thank You" to C.E.R.T for all they are doing for our neighbors in Louisiana.
